Fog over the first hole on a late-August morning. August for me, especially the second half, is a sleeper for great Minnesota weather. The mornings are cool, the days still warm. Its the perfect weather to seed grass and take beautiful photos.
Our daughter Olive started working at the course this summer and she took this photo on a morning with a great sunrise. It was great to have her riding shotgun on the way to work and gave such a cool perspective to watch her enjoy golf course work for all the same reasons I fell in love with it.
Speaking of perspective-when we only focus on the grass, we miss a lot of other wonderful things.
Assistant superintendent, Chad Blank flew his drone a lot this summer, offering even more new perspectives. This is one of my favorites.
2022, for the second straight summer, was droughty. Some may enjoy verdant golf course views, but I enjoy tawny hues much more and there is nothing better than a drought to provide such beauty. The next four photos show Hazeltine at it’s droughty best. The 1st hole.
