Does grass species make a difference, Poa annua vs. bent? Can we mow over frost( do we need to?)? Dr. Micah Woods has shown in Asia the economic cost would be too much. Even if it shows damage would it effect play.
It's a good question Leah and I don't know if species makes a difference.
Regards to mowing, I can't think of a situation in which we would have to mow on a day when experiencing a frost delay. Even if that was the case, when our delay is done, we are allowed adequate time to perform necessary maintenance to the course. Still, at the time of year we would have frost, mowing is probably not necessary.
Additionally, in our location and given the time of year we are experiencing frost, the economic cost of having a delay is almost nothing. Not true for all MN courses though; public courses would have a different impact to the bottom line.

been mulling this off and on for quite some time. I lean toward "more comfortable" opening with frost in the Spring knowing that weather for recovery is near.
And considering the budget impact on our operation (frost delays our day too!) being we still need to setup after the thaw, we need to look at this practice a little closer.

Have you tried mowing frosted turf? if you let golfers out before you can mow doesn't that create issues trying to mow thru golf?
From my reply to Leah above:
